Day 38 - Am Back!

Have been silent because I've pretty much had to sit out this PCP when I sprained my wrist last Fri - a very bad, almost tore ligament one. Wish I could say it was from a serious workout but nope, was grappling with a runaway baby stroller. The 20 pounder was in it so wasn't pretty.

Must confess, was a tad delighted at first - "good news, er, I mean bad news Patrick, sprained the wrist badly, looks like I can't do any skipping or use resistance bands for a while - bummer".

Patrick's advice was to do 30min of brisk walking and whatever I could muster pain free. So I did a couple of slow runs over the weekend- ok, 2 slow runs. Really couldn't do the bands at all and skipping was out. By Mon, I gave the exercises a wide berth - just couldn't be asked really.

But today with the wrist feeling almost 90%, and guilt running high at abt 200%, decided to tackle the day's workout. Did the skips (1600 to make up for the last few days - felt great!), legs and abs. Grappling with the bands still felt a bit off so didn't push it.

So long story short, I've not been entirely compliant on the exercise front and it has not been great. It's astonishing how slow and lethargic I've been in the last few days and I think it's entirely due to me slacking on the exercise front ( or it could be the less than invigorating diet  we're on!). Absolutely remarkable how the last 30 days have somewhat reengineered my system - who would have thought I would miss exercising! So am back folks!

~ hmm, this slacking and then coming round seems to be a recurring theme on my blog...

  1. YAY Elaine you are back. I was wondering where you had been. Hope the wrist is healing.

I have always thought that a baby stroller in all those hilly HK streets must be a nightmare.

In your off topic question, my bubs has just started to wake up in the middle of the night and crawl in a half dazed manner. He just loves his new skill of crawling so much he doesn't want to stop even for sleep. I am worried about him crawling off the bed. Last night he was up around 3am and didn't want to go back down. Hubby managed to walk with him for a bit to get him to settle.

Hopefully this is a phase that both yours and mine will pass soon. This weekend we are moving the cot to across the room and dropping it down a level and will try to get him to sleep in it alone rather than as a co-sleeper.

  5. Good that you're back in it. The irony of exercise is that by spending all that energy moving your body you GAIN much more energy at the end of it. And sitting on your ass all day only makes you feel more tired. Invest in yourself and keep going Elaine!
